Luge in Ganghwado(강화도), South Korea

I really hoped that I could take luge in South Korea.

I once took it in Singapore before, and I wondered why we Korean didn’t have this simple and easy stuff.

Well, it was 2014 and we didn’t have it then, but now we have two luge places in South Korea.

One is in Tongyeong(통영), and the other one is in Ganghwado(강화도).

The venue in Tongyeong  opened last year (2017), and 180,000 people tried it within a year.

This year (2018), the Ganghwado luge site opened to public.

I was searching for something a fun to do in Ganghwado one morning, and then I found it.  So I decided to go there right away after climbing Manisan.

Two rides costs 20,000 won or 25,000 won.

The residents of Ganghwado can get discounted tickets with their identity card.

Finally, I took the luge!

You can get a short training time with an instructor to teach you how to control and drive the luge, but the instructors there only speak Korean.

This is how to luge. It’s very easy. Grab the handles with your two hands.

When you pull the handles toward you,  it slows down.

There are two courses. The left course has less curves, so you can ride it faster.

The course is known for being the longest luge course in Asia.

It was fun, but I had to wait more than two hours.

Well, I want to recommend you go there only on weekdays.

For more information, you can visit its website https://www.ganghwa-resort.co.kr/Main/

Unfortunately, it doesn’t offer an English version.

Its their full address is 인천광역시 강화군 길상면 선두리 4-15번지.

If you don’t have a car, you have to grab a taxi from Ganghwa Terminal(강화터미널), and it costs around 15,000 won.
